vicci in progress part 3

skein no. 2 is done and at the moment the shawl measures 94 cm.
i´m not really sure yet - but it could be i understand now the pattern =) and my knitting is now faster than a week ago (it was also high time).
i´m very pleased with the project but there´s no time at all to think about another knitting and i´m looking forward when it´s done (at that rate i will need two more weeks for the knitting).
well then!

AND

while i was busy with the last meters of skein no. 2 i was listening to andrea´s 1st podcast (available only in german). it was such a great entertainment. please enjoy here.

hitze

...dienstags-wollschaf-frage 30 | 2006

Was machst du neben dem Stricken?

vicci in progress part 2

it´s a slowly knitting, very slowly, and i have to be very concentrated while i´m doing it. yesterday i finished the first (sic!) skein; so there are 4 weeks left for 3 skeins.....*sigh* (you remember: it will be a present - a dear friend of mine will marry on august 26th in france). but it´s a wonderful yarn and a wonderful pattern. i wish i would have more leisure to knit it...
and because there have been a few questions: you can find
victoria in the rowan-magazine 39 and i´m using the original yarn: 4 skeins of rowan kid silk spray; colour: pebbles.

rejoicings and embraces

can you see this? that´s the incredible, gorgeous and awesome july parcel from my dear, hearty, mysterious one-skein-secret-pal!
some fine french biscuits and earl grey- tea (delicious!), a small bag made out of an provencal fabric for my small knitting projects, point protectors for my dpns, joss sticks rosemary and a wonderful paper art candle: it looks like an paperfolded crane! it´s so amazing!!
and there´s more to it than that: a sirdar loopa - makes funny boas without any knitting =) - and a perfect sirdar-loopa-boa-yarn: hand dyed chenille from colinette.
dear secret pal! now i will have some tea and biscuits, put my feet up and have some loopa experience. thank you so much for your wonderful, perfect, creative and inspiring present!

p.s.: this is my 100th post and i think nothing would be more worth to write about than my secret pal!

ksks-update

last weekend in munich i was sewing the bag for my ksks-pal using an easy pattern from burda. it worked really fine and i´m quite pleased with the result. you can also see a part of the wool and a keyring with stitchmarkers and a small crocheted flower. today at our meet to knit i will buy some tea and cookies for my pal (it´s too hot to send some chocolat.......) and finally i have to translate the pattern for the socks. and then it´s prepared to begin the travel over the ocean.

third time is a charm

i needed a feeling of success: a fast knitting without any sewing, a quick project (2 skeins) and an easy to follow pattern. the first try was started at meet to knit on friday and was ribbled in the same night at home (too loose for my head - i couldn´t believe it. normally every hat or cap is too small). the second try was started with smaller needles and ribbled after the match yesterday (still too loose...).
so i started my sunday-knitting with two circulars no. 4 (a new method for me to work in the round) and now it´s finished and fits: my sunflower tam from "knitting nature".
ok - not wearable for the next 4 months but a nice and quick knitting and i´m looking forward to use it in autumn & winter.

postscriptum:
i used about 70 gr royal tweed from lana grossa in orange. the gauge was perfect with needles no. 5 but now with the smaller needles the texture of the knitting suppose to be perfect for the tam.

dienstags-wollschaf-frage 27 | 2006

Was machst Du, wenn Dein Strickstück einfach nichts werden will?

i proudly announce the finish of the caftan-knitting. actually i´m studying the science of sewing and blocking hopefully to be able to present something at the meet to knit next friday.
for relaxation and because of the exciting quarter-finals i made some stitch markers for my pals and started a soy-silk-scarf in seafoam-style. the pattern is entertaining and i think it accentuates the soy-silk from my best one skein secret in a perfect way.
